We share an office with Coastal Speech who provides speech and language services to all ages.
A speech-language pathologist is a professional that evaluates and treats children and adults who have challenges with speech and/or language. Speech is referred to as articulation, or the production of speech sounds. An articulation disorder is when one’s speech is affected by the lack of muscle coordination and movements that are important when producing speech sounds. Speech-Language Pathologists also help with language. Language can be broken down into receptive and expressive language. Receptive language is that language someone understands, while expressive language is the ability to use language. Cognition, memory, and swallowing disorders are other areas that speech therapy can provide treatment to improve.
